Intrepid
A record of how an AI wrote a contract (what it read, where it hesitated, what it took back), built so lawyers can follow its reasoning.
The idea
Intrepid is a research prototype, not a product. Most AI-safety tools hand you a verdict: hallucinated or not. Intrepid shows lawyers the path instead. You step through how a model drafted a contract, clause by clause: what it read, where it hesitated and what it took back. There's no play button and no ML jargon on screen.
It's built on one real, measured run of Qwen3-8B on an A100, read through a published sparse autoencoder. The rule: the interface never claims something the data can't back.
Details
- One clause cited an authority that didn't exist; 8 of 12 redraws from the same starting point did the same.
- Support for each claim is shown in three states: measured, undetermined, or nothing carried.
- I turned down a 2.06× speedup because it caused four false alarms, and a 1.26× speedup because it reordered the evidence on 11 of 22 clauses.
Built with Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind v4 and a Python capture pipeline on Modal.
